Catch a falling star
On our evening walk Nadia was entranced by the stars and held a long conversation with us about the planets, aliens, and her desire to see the universe and take me with her! She then tells us: I really need a telescope to look out for falling stars cause I got a whole bunch of wishes.

Royalty
Today during Nadia's xmas concert we sat next to a little girl named Noor. I tell Elena, "Elena, she's named after a queen!" And Elena SHOUTS, "But mama, I'm a queen, too!" And when I say that she shouted, she shouted. Thank goodness the program hadn't started. Apparently, in her book there's only room for one royal and she wasn't having her mom call anyone else queen.

Smooth Criminal
We're listening to Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" and Nadia asks me, "What's a criminal?" I tell her that a criminal is someone who does bad things, commits crimes.
"Oh, like Elena's a criminal because she throws things in the streets and that's bad, she's a criminal."

If I were you . . .
I took Nadia to piano yesterday and she just wasn't feeling it. I had to apologize to her instructor and leave without taking the class. On the way back home she tried to have a conversation with me, and since I was still so upset by her obnoxious behavior I told her, "Nadia, if I were you I'd be quiet right now." What does the little one say to that?
"If you were me YOU'D be the one in trouble and YOUR brain would be doing naughty things."
No comments. No answer to that.

The Nuclear Family
While visiting our single (and lesbian) friend and her 2 children Nadia asks her, "Where is the dad that goes here?"
Our friend graciously answers,"No dad here, girl! We don't need one!" And she's right, our friend does a wonderful job raising her 2 girls on her own.
